Couch to 5K Running Series
Anyone looking to start a running regime? Well this is the time!
Whether you are looking to run a few road races, up your fitness, or shed a few pounds, the ‘Couch to 5K Running Series’ is the place to start.
Running has so many benefits, but on the top of people’s list, is how effective it is. Running is one of the most time effective ways to exercise. Depending on your metabolic rate, which is how many calories your body needs to survive, running can boost this, which either increases the amount you can eat every day… Or causes an energy deficit which means you are burning off more calories than you are consuming. In other words an energy deficit means you should be shedding pounds! If you are interested in roughly what your metabolic rate is, here is a link that will calculate it for you. But just keep in mind that this is an estimate and actual values would vary from this.
Couch to 5K is ideally for any beginner runners, and workouts will be tailored to this. But, for those of you that have been participating in Bootcamp Ireland you already have a great base! You have built up stamina and great core strength which gives you a great foundation. You will be pushed but not beyond what you can handle. The workouts will be designed so that they can be done at your individual fitness level, so do not worry that it will be too hard.
The series will begin on Monday the 20th of February at 6:30 pm. The meeting point will be 17 Rathfarnam Road, Terenure, Dublin 6W. We will do all of our runs and workouts from this meeting point. It will last five weeks and at the end of the series we will have a timed 5K. Along with the Monday workouts you will be provided with a recommended running plan for the other days of the week. The cost for the 5 week session is €40.
